Christine Descher
I am an American soprano and singing teacher. After receiving my Masters of Music degree, I spent several years singing, teaching, and studying in St. Louis and New York. My teachers included some of the greats: Cornelius Reid, John Stewart, and Ellen Shade. I taught in schools and maintained a private studio. At the same time I was a jobbing singer both on the stage and at private events.
Upon moving to NY, I took a job in finance to pay the bills and then something extraordinary happened: I was promoted! So, for several years, I took a hiatus from music and worked for a couple of large banks - this was what originally brought me to England.
While this career path was a definite departure from music, I travelled the world, met my husband and gained life-skills and valuable experience working with all sorts of people. Also, having held positions in New York, London, and Singapore, the diversity of these cultures have informed my life experiences with a richness I could have never imagined.
I returned to my musical roots with a rich and varied compendium of experiences which, when applied to music and to pedagogy, allows for a deeper connection and understanding of my students and of artistry as a vocation. I now aim to sing and teach others to sing with conviction, courage, ease and beauty. Give me a call or drop me an e-mail and we can see how I can help you achieve that singing goal!

"I enjoy singing for fun but have always felt that I have quite a limited vocal range. Having never had any singing lessons before I thought I would try some singing lessons with Christine.
I've had several lessons now, and during that time I have become more aware of my breathing and various techniques and also feel that I have gained more confidence in my singing ability and am staring to notice a difference in my vocal range.
Christine demonstrates a very easy teaching style and is great at making you feel at ease and relaxed. I would definitely recommend Christine as a singing teacher.
